Thailand is a leading producer of crops ranging from rice and sugarcane to cassava and tropical fruits. Yet its farmers face low productivity, labor shortages, and environmental pressures, from managing water during droughts and floods to soil degradation. KUBOTA FARM offers a place to explore practical solutions for a #SustainableFuture. The demonstration farm in central Thailand is operated by SIAM KUBOTA Corporation Co., Ltd. (SKC). It combines research, field demonstrations, and hands-on experience to help farmers address local challenges and boost productivity. Working alongside Kubota Research and Development Asia, SKC develops solutions tailored to local growing conditions. In sugarcane farming, labor shortages have long driven pre-harvest leaf burning. As part of the “Zero Burn” initiative in partnership with local authorities, the Sugarcane Leaf Remover offers a mechanical alternative. The removed leaves can be collected and baled for sale, providing farmers with additional income. By reducing the need for burning, this approach can also help reduce PM2.5 emissions and support Net Zero Emission goals. At KUBOTA FARM, the team also advances regenerative soil management, incorporating rice straw to restore soil health in paddy fields and improve long-term productivity for rice cultivation. Through daily conversations with farmers, SKC learned that many young people see farming as hard work with limited financial reward. KUBOTA FARM introduces smart farming to help younger generations see new possibilities in agriculture. Demonstrations of autonomous rice transplanters and agricultural drones showcase these technologies in action. Farmers can also test-drive machinery firsthand, and some decide to buy equipment during their visit. The farm aims to turn research into know-how farmers can put to work. Working with farmers, government agencies, and other partners, KUBOTA FARM will continue evolving as a place for open innovations. Its goal is for visitors to discover new research and solutions each time they return. Insights from this work in #ThaiAgriculture could help address food, water, and environmental challenges across ASEAN and beyond. #ForEarthForLife
